
Here at Sunset Pastures we believe in knowing where our food comes from and how it has been raised. We buy our wiener pigs from a trusted local farmer at approximately 8 weeks old. We use Berkshire/Heritage Breed Cross for outstanding marbling qualities.
We routinely rotate these pigs on fresh pasture for the remaining of their life span. Rotational grazing ensures they are constantly rooting and foraging in fresh grass, bugs, and dirt to encourage healthy, happy pigs and exceptional meat. Once they have reached adequate weights they are then slaughtered on farm and brought to a local butcher for the final product.
WHOLE and HALF pigs are available for purchase.
Returning Customers get first choice for purchase of pork. New customers are first come first serve after opening date as listed below. Once pigs are nearing butcher dates Monty & Emily will contact you personally to arrange pickup/delivery of pork. Our pork is then processed by DH Custom Sausage from Rimbey, AB.
Cut sheets are to be filled out upon ordering pork. When signing up for pork you will be added to our email newsletter list. This is important for any farm announcements.

Final cost includes $3.10 / lb + kill fee + butcher fees
DH Custom Sausage butcher fees include:
$1.20/lb cut and wrap
$2.25/lb curing & smoking
$3.75/lb sausage
Pricing varies depending on your specific choice cuts and exact weight of pig. We strive to finish our pork at approximately 260lb live/170lb dressed but being pastured pigs this can vary slightly. Typically a whole pig ranges from $800-$1200 and a half pig ranges from $400-$800 depending on your cut sheet.
